Park Museum Langmatt
Surrounding the Art Nouveau villa, a historic park invites visitors to linger. Artfully landscaped and expanded on several occasions, it serves as the green counterpart to the famous collection of French Impressionists housed within the building.
Whilst the museum houses one of the most significant private collections of French Impressionism in Europe, visitors can enjoy the magnificent park outside. It was created in 1900 on behalf of the industrialist couple Sidney and Jenny Brown, at the same time as the villa was built. Several extensions and redesigns followed up until the 1920s. The estate is owned by the Langmatt Sidney and Jenny Brown Foundation.
As part of the renovation work between 2024 and 2026, the park was upgraded in accordance with heritage guidelines and enhanced with features such as a circular walkway, a children’s garden with a treehouse, and recreations of a fruit garden, a rose garden and a perennial garden. As well as quiet seating areas under old trees, the park also offers activities for young and old alike: biodiversity stations, the audio tour ‘What lives in the park?’ and the digital treasure hunt ‘Find Harry!’. A self-service café with a terrace provides refreshments.
